From November to February young male camels enter a "rut" and mating occurs. During this time, the males are extremely dangerous and locals are often scared. Scientists have taken it upon themselves to remove the love struck males (3-6 years old) from the rest of the fray to prevent damage. Sadly this camel is in heavy decline because it can only reproduce every two years. It is also prey to many different types of animals. Because of these circumstances, the Wild Camel Protection Foundation has decided to step up. They have decided that the only way to solve this problem is to remove the three- to six-year-old thrusting males from the fray.
I believe this is important because these camels in particular can drink heavily concentrated salt water. They can also survive no less than 43 atmospheric nuclear tests making them pretty special. It would be a shame if they died off.
