Photos have recently surfaced of endangered hammerhead sharks for sale at a Chinese fish market. "The sharks were being sold for 15 yuan ($2.31) a pound." Despite china signing a treaty restricting the killing of these sharks, many are still being hunted for food. The fisherman reportedly said that they didn't know the sharks were endangered. I believe this is important because it shows how detrimental it is to not educate the public about the laws that may affect them. If these sharks permenetly go extinct, the food chain and other species will suffer the consequences. |
